A Dirty Pillowcase
Like bath towels, gym clothes and bed sheets your pillowcase accumulates dirts and oil from your skin, hair and environment. This bacterial buildup can clog pores and cause breakouts. The easiest way to fix this is to swap out your pillowcase at least once a week. I strive for every two days! Another consideration; be sure to cleanse your skin every night and remove products from your hair.
Another fun tip...switch out your cotton pillowcase for satin or silk. These fabric choices allow for more slip and glide, decreasing friction and tugging on your skin. They can also help to minimize signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles. Not to mention you'll feel extra fancy using them.
Skipping the SPF
You are probably a pro at protecting your skin from harsh UV exposure during prolonged periods spent in the sun, but what about day to day? Your skin needs protection even on a cloudy day or when you don't think you'll outside for long. Small amounts of UV exposure will add up and can cause damage and increase skin cancer risk. Don't skip the SPF, especially on areas that are always exposed like your hands and face.
Find a broad spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF30 or higher. I always hear, "My makeup has SPF in it." This is cheating ladies, the SPF in your makeup is not enough, nor is it thick enough or applied to your face evenly enough to be all that effective.
Sunglasses are in constant contact with your skin. They move slightly on your face and cause friction. Oil, bacteria, sweat and other debris are trapped by the small parts of the frame that touch your skin. This mixture is the perfect recipe and environment to cause acne and clogged pores. Similar to the cell phone, a quick wipe down once a day should fix the problem.
